While the concept of channeling the internet over power lines is far from new, it has yet to be implemented in any significant manner. If a top power distributor in the Philippines has its druthers, however, all that will change in the not-too-distant future. Manila Electric Company, better known as Meralco, is gearing up to use its power lines to bring broadband internet to more of the country, which currently sees just 20 million out of its 90 million inhabitants with access. In fact, the company has already made clear that it is “set to implement the pilot test,” with the results guiding it in “determining scope and coverage of the project.” Long way to go India!!!

Did you ever observe that when you enter ‘google’ in the address bar and press ‘Ctrl+Enter’, Firefox takes you to ‘www.google.com

You can change this default setting and instruct Firefox to take you to ‘www.google.co.in’ when you hit ‘Ctrl+Enter’.

Open ‘Firefox’

Type ‘about:config’ in the address bar and hit ‘Enter’

Enter ‘browser.fixup’ in Filter.

The following values are related to the setting. Right click on the values to modify.

browser.fixup.alternate.enabled – You can use this to turn the Ctrl+Enter behavior off entirely.
browser.fixup.alternate.prefix – This value sets the prefix assigned before the keyword you type.
browser.fixup.alternate.suffix – This value sets what is assigned after the keyword. For instance, you could use this to change the default suffix to your country code, like ‘.co.in’
