There is a trick in Windows to prevent users to access your files and folders.
You can also prevent other users(guest) to play games that are installed on your PC.

  1. Make sure password is enabled for your account and you have administrator privileges.
  2. There must be a guest account on the system, otherwise the trick will not work.
  3. Right click on the folder which has to be secured and click ‘Properties’.
  4. Click on ‘Advanced’ in the properties window. It opens ‘Advanced Attributes’ window.
    prevent-access-a
  5. Select ‘Encrypt contents to secure data’ in the ‘Advanced Attributes’ window.
    prevent-access-b
  6. Click on ‘OK’ to close ‘Advanced Attributes’ window. You will be taken to ‘Properties’ window.
  7. Click on ‘OK’ to close ‘Properties’ window. It may open ‘Confirm Attribute Changes’ window.
  8. Make sure ‘Apply changes to this folder, subfolders and files’ is selected in ‘Confirm Attribute Changes’ window and click ‘OK’ to close the window. (Sometimes, windows may not prompt you to confirm)
  9. Similarly repeat the steps 3 to 8 for other folders.
  10. To secure your games or any other application, secure the folder containing the installed files.

You can access the folders from your account only. If someone logs in as a guest, he/she will not have access to the folders.
