Mozilla Thunderbird profile contains information about your account. All your emails are stored here by default. I would recommend keeping all important data in a drive other than where Operating System is installed. If you wish to move the profile to other location, please follow the following steps.
- Make sure Thunderbird is not running.
- Goto ‘Start–>Run’ , type ‘%appdata%’ and press enter.
- Open ‘Thunderbird’ folder. (Or you could have entered ‘%appdata%/Thunderbird’)
- Open ‘profiles.ini’.
- Make the following changes (IsRelative=0, Path=YourNewPath), save and close the file.
- Open ‘Profiles’ folder.
- You will find a folder with name ending with ‘default’. (e.g. wl5jrso4.default)
- Rename the folder to ‘ThunderbirdProfile’ and move the folder to your desired location.
- Make sure ‘YourNewPath’ in ‘profiles.ini’ is correctly configured.
(e.g. D:\ThunderbirdProfile or D:\Docs\ThunderbirdProfile)
