Government of India has delayed the Mobile number portability again(MNP) for a period 4 months. Department of telecommunication has stated in a press release dated 30th June that due to the complexity and enormity of the testing involved before implementing MNP it has been delayed till 31st October 2010. This has been 3rd time when the date of implementation has been extended, first it was scheduled to be introduced in 31st December 2009. then it was again postponed to 31st march and then to 31st June and now to 31st October.
What is MNP?
Mobile number portability enables mobile users to retain there mobile numbers even if they change from one mobile operator to another.
