Desktop/Remote sharing with mikogo

mikogo is another utility that lets you share your desktop with other users over the internet. It is very easy to use and you can share with multiple users.

Start a meeting

  • Visit http://www.mikogo.com
  • Create your account (free)
  • You will receive the password on your registered email
  • Download mikogo-starter
  • Install the application
  • Run the application, you will notice a ‘M’ icon in taskbar
  • Right click on ‘M’ icon in the taskbar

  • Click on Start Meeting

  • Enter username (email) and password
  • Note down the meeting ID and send it to your participants

Application Selection

You can select applications that has to be hidden from the desktop/remote sharing. Right click on mikogo icon in task bar and click settings.  mikogo-app

Password protect your meeting

If you wish to password protect your meeting then do not forget to pass it down to your participants. Right click on mikogo icon in the taskbar and click settings.

Settings after you start the meeting:

  • Whiteboard: It is a drawing board
  • Switch Presenter You can switch the viewing direction enabling one of the participants to become the presenter and share their screen at any point of time during your the meeting.
  • Remote Control You can grant access to one of your participant over your mouse and keyboard. If you are the meeting organizer, you can also request remote control from the participant who is currently presenting his/her screen.
  • Send Files … Any participant of the meeting can transfer files to other participants of the current meeting.
  • Lock Meeting Room When you lock meeting room, no participants can join further. You can unlock the meeting room anytime.
  • Back Monitor The presenter will get a small window on the screen’s right side which will show exactly what the participants can see at any point of time.
  • Recording You can record the meeting also
  • You can also view participants, view meeting info and change your application selection.

Join a meeting

  • If you have mikogo-starter installed on your system, then run mikogo
  • You can also download mikogo viewer which runs without installation
  • In any case you will get the following screen

  • Enter the ‘Meeting ID’ provided by your meeting organizer and click on ‘Join Meeting’.
  • If the meeting is password protected, you will be asked to enter password to join the meeting

mikogo-icon-red Participant of the meeting Currently in presenter mode
mikogo-icon-green Participant of the meeting Joined a meeting
mikogo-icon-pink Meeting organizer When the remote screen is granted to a participant
