Steps to Change DNS Settings on Windows XP

  1. Select Control Panel from Start menu.
  2. Click Network Connections from the Control Panel choices.
  3. Open your connection (e.g. LAN) from the Network Connections window.

  4. Click Properties button.
  5. Select Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) and click Properties.

  6. Click the radio button ‘Use the following DNS server addresses’

  7. Enter the Preferred DNS server(e.g. 208.67.222.222 ) and Alternate DNS server(e.g. 208.67.220.220) details.
  8. Click on ‘OK’ and you will be taken to another window. Click ‘OK’ again and the changes are confirmed.

    Hello dear friends.

    I need help very urgent.My isp hade a dns 83.229.32.1 and they have changed on sistem to 41.77.240.1 and all customers have changed also.
    When i changed on my dial up dns is showing the following information.
    on place of dns it says server ip address 41.77.247.234 and client ip address 41.77.242.72.
    I have tryed to changed and i put it automatic and manually but still coming the same information.
    Already formated my pc but nothing happen.
    What can i do to remove that nrs and put the correct dns.

    Generally there is no problem to change DNS servers and there is no need of formatting the system? Send me some info to further understand your problem:
    a) Which service provider are you using?
    b) Send a screenshot to saurabh[at]techwhiz[in].
