According to unconfirmed sources, Notion Ink’s Adam will be available for pre-order from 9-Dec-2010.

Here is a teaser posted by Rohan on Notion Ink’s blog.

Expectations are running high among all gadget lovers as Adam which is seen as a genuine threat to iPad is about to be born. Its a good news especially for Indian consumers who have historically been neglected and discriminated by Apple. The biggest question now is “Can Adam be an iPad of India?”

Recently I came across the concept of solar back packs. I haven’t seen one in India till now, so I thought about writing this post about interesting use of technology in backpacks – renewable energy powered.

Solar Backpack:

Solar backpack is a high end backpack which has solar panels installed on the front of the backpack which with the help of sunlight recharges the small solar cells present in the backpack. Google finishes with the Nexus One

Reports are flying in that Google is finally finished with its flagship Android phone. The Nexus One, also called the HTC Passion had been introduced to largely positive reviews. Although the reception seemed good, too many problems have plagued what could have been a very successful device.

The first few problems revolved around the touch screen and its connectivity via 3G. Users who encountered problems were also forced to use the Android forums online. Some users were also seen complaining about the phone not being sturdy. The phone was not a failure though – from its launch in January, it has been regarded generally as an excellent example of exactly what Android can do. Tech blogs were also in praise of its implementation of all the updates at the time of release. Although subsequent models like the Motorola Droid have surpassed it in terms of features and updates, it still stands testimony to Google’s foray into the smartphone arena.

The latest post on the Nexus One blog has declared that no more lines of the Nexus One are in the making. With the web store closed, only the few stores that still have leftover stocks of it will be an option for a buyer.

With Google CEO Eric Schmidt’s statement that the ‘mission’ was accomplished with the Nexus One and that no follow ups were planned, this may signal the end of the Google line of phones for the time being.

India unveils low cost Laptop @ Rs.1500

Kapil Sibal, India’s Human Resource Development Minister unveiled a low cost computing-cum-access device specially designed for the students. The laptop priced at Rs.1500 ($35) is the cheapest available computing device and the prices are expected to go down after production begins. It is the result of 5 years of work by the experts from IIT Bombay, IIT Kharagpur, IIT Kanpur, IIT Madras and IISC. India will distribute the laptop through educational institutions under ‘National Mission on Education through Information and Technology (NMEICT)’. With wireless internet connectivity being made accessible in rural areas by BSNL and this low cost laptop, students from rural parts of the country would be able to connect to the internet which was a distant dream for them till now. But we would have to wait for the device to be actually distributed to the students before we could comment on its usability any further.
